Our on-site school provides a regular school setting for your children to come, be taught, and participate with other students in learning. The on-site school provides all needed materials: computers, art materials, science project materials, etc. There are currently 2 classrooms, but lots of options within those two classes.
Classroom 1: Classroom 1 uses the A Beka videos, has a strong foundation in phonics and math, includes free writing time, lots of reading, and many hands-on activities and learning. Students in 4-year-old Kindergarten – 2nd grade will be in Classroom 1. Third graders can choose to go to Classroom 1 or 2. Students in classroom 2 must be self-motivated and very capable of using the computer for their learning. This may enter into the parent’s decision of which classroom to put their child in.
Classroom 2: Classroom 2 uses Ignitia, a completely online curriculum, and has teachers available via Skype to assist with the learning, monitor progress, and add to the lessons. Classroom monitors watch the class and assist the students with doing their projects as needed. The 3rd-12th grade class is set-up such that anyone from anywhere can participate in the class. However, benefits of actually being at the on-site school include student interaction, provision of all needed supplies, and at times, may have classes offered that cannot be offered online.
Students in the 7th-12th grade classes can choose to follow a regular schedule which includes 7 classes each day, all year long. These classes will include a math, science, history, English, Bible, and 2 electives with each of these classes being worth 1 credit each. Or, they may choose to do block scheduling which includes around 5 classes each day for the first semester, and then around 5 classes each day for the second semester (number of classes may vary depending on whether it is a class worth 1 unit or ½ unit).
